MS Dhoni's Viral Exit Gesture: One Player Leaves, Internet Melts!

NEW DELHI: Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by two wickets on Wednesday, all but ending the defending champions' hopes of making the IPL play-offs. Chasing a target of 180, CSK got over the line with two balls to spare. Dewald Brevis led the charge with a blistering 52 off just 25 balls, while Shivam Dube and captain MS Dhoni contributed 45 and an unbeaten 17, respectively.

After the exciting victory, Dhoni participated in the traditional post-game handshakes, warmly welcoming the KKR players prior to making his way back towards the CSK bench along with teammate Anshul Kamboj. However, just as he began to depart, he abruptly stopped.

A widely shared clip on social media shows Dhoni signaling towards Kamboj, suggesting that an additional player needed attention. The overlooked individual turned out to be KKR bowler Chetan Sakariya.

Dhoni didn’t hesitate; he spun around, approached Sakariya, firmly shook his hand, and even slapped him on the back — this minor act underscored yet again the ex-India skipper’s modesty and fair play spirit.

At the post-match presentation, MS Dhoni did not hesitate to admit the difficulties his squad encountered this season.

“Few? We’ve only managed to win this game three times so far,” he joked when questioned about his feelings after the triumph.

"There were several aspects that did not work out as we had hoped. While you might feel emotionally affected by this, and discuss the aspect of pride, it’s important to approach the situation pragmatically," he mentioned.

Dhoni acknowledged that as the campaign went on, the team's emphasis changed from pursuing outcomes to testing new strategies and evaluating players for upcoming challenges.

CSK, currently placed last in the standings with only 3 victories out of their 12 games, are set to play against the Rajasthan Royals in Chennai on Monday.
