The manager of Arsenal spent 18 months at PSG during his time as a player and hopes that the French club will eventually secure their first-ever Champions League title.
“I am hopeful due to my history here,” Arteta said to Canal Plus.
'I genuinely wish they finally clinch it; this comes from deep within me. Now isn't the moment to chant 'Go Paris,' but once they reach the finals, you can count on me to cheer for them.'
Arteta also thinks that Gianluigi Donnarumma’s outstanding performances in both semi-finals were crucial for PSG making it to the finals.
'Good job for them; they've qualified. But we performed much better,' Arteta stated.
‘The man of the match was the same both times, it was their goalkeeper. That’s the story.
‘I’m so proud of the team, we played with a lot of character, courage, intelligence. But the reality is the result. We can’t be happy. We fought so well, we were better than them, today we were unlucky.
'We need to identify areas where we can improve right away since we possess the necessary skill level. There were seven players sitting out on the bench. Despite arriving during the toughest part of the season for the squad, we managed to perform as well as we did.'
