Belal Muhammad Downplays Islam MakhacheV's Title Threat After Meeting UFC Executives
Belal Muhammad has minimized the notion that Islam Makhachev is planning to compete with him for the UFC welterweight championship, since he anticipates his companion will adhere to his values.
In recent years, Muhammad has trained alongside Makhachev, guided by their mutual acquaintance from childhood, Khabib Nurmagomedov. There is an agreement that MakhacheV will not face Muhammad. .
It’s equally clear that lightweight champion Makhachev aims to vie for the welterweight title down the line, alongside Muhammad. defending the belt against Jack Della Maddalena on Saturday , the Russian’s next move could soon become clear.
Regardless, Muhammad was questioned during the UFC 315 media day about his thoughts on whether Makhachev might attempt to challenge him should he defeat Della Maddalena. This inquiry followed an incident where Makhachev was spotted with UFC Chief Brand Officer Hunter Campbell.
“No, I don’t believe they would go ahead with that,” stated Muhammad, aged 36, on Wednesday (May 7th). “We speak frequently, and just the other day, Khabib sent me a message.”
