Bengals' $33M Star Faces Tough News After Signing Big Contract Extension

The NFL season is still far off, but the Bengals received some unfortunate injury updates on Tuesday.

One of their main defenders, who recently got an extended contract during the off-season, is currently wearing a walking boot.

Defensive lineman B.J. Hill attended Tuesday’s practice session as reported by several sources; however, he wore a walking boot on his lower left leg.

The Athletic's Paul Dehner mentioned that Hill didn't have the boot on during an open locker room session last week.

Hill inked a three-year contract extension this off-season totaling $33 million.

He stands out as a premier tackler among the defenders on the inside line. In 2024, he recorded 56 tackles. Additionally, Hill managed to get three sacks.

The Bengals require all the defensive support they can muster, particularly since a Trey Hendrickson contract extension is still pending.

Certainly, it's preferable for Hill to sustain an injury now instead of later.

Cincinnati is expected to proceed with caution while waiting for updates on the particular injury that Hill is facing.

So long as he remains healthy come August and September, what he’s currently going through won’t matter much at all.
